Cold Laser Therapy & Myofascial Release

Cold Laser Therapy Treatment
Chiropractic laser therapy combines chiropractic care with laser treatments to provide patients with additional relief from uncomfortable symptoms due to chronic pain.Laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to treat an injury or ailment causing pain to the body. Laser therapy can help stimulate your body's natural healing processes and reduce recovery time from an accident or injury. Cold lasers are devices that administer focused light waves to the treatment area to penetrate through the skin and tissues. In most cases, a laser treatment only takes a few minutes for a chiropractor to apply, but treatment times vary depending on the size of the treatment area. Chiropractors use laser technology to target the treatment area more precisely. Cold laser therapy can pinpoint a treatment area more accurately and deliver effective treatment to promote healing and reduce downtime associated with chronic pain. Cold Laser Therapy can help with inflammation, sprains, strains, tendonitis, arthritis, and neck/shoulder/back Pain.

Myofascial Release.
We offer an alternative medicine therapy called myofascial release that is used for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain. Myofascial release therapy is a hands-on treatment that utilizes gentle, sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulates the stretch reflex in muscles.

How Does Myofascial Release Work?

Most myofascial release treatments take place during a massage therapy session. Some chiropractors and traditional medical practitioners may also offer it.Your therapist will gently massage the myofascia and feel for stiff or tightened areas. Normal myofascia should feel pliable and elastic. The therapist will begin massaging and stretching the areas that feel rigid with light manual pressure. The therapist then aids the tissue and supportive sheath in releasing pressure and tightness. The process is repeated multiple times on the same trigger point and on other trigger points until the therapist feels the tension is fully released.

Who Might Benefit From Myofascial Release?

Patients with myofascial pain syndrome frequently benefit from this type of therapy. People who experience chronic headaches may also find relief from myofascial release. Gently massaging tightened muscles in and around the neck and head may reduce headaches.

Stretching & Strengthening Exercises
If you suffer from chronic pain, stiff ligaments, tight muscles, or frequent injuries, Dr. Randy Markum may prescribe stretching and strengthening exercises on top of any joint adjustments or other treatments you may need. These exercises can play a vital role in helping you regain control of your body, improve your range of motion, and enjoy a more pain-free lifestyle. Dr. Markum will evaluate your current range of motion and medical status before prescribing stretching exercises.

Muscle Stimulation(E-Stim)
Muscle stimulation therapy, or e-Stim, is a therapeutic treatment that applies electrical stimulation to treat pain and muscle spasms. At Burleson Chiropractic Center we use this therapy to help build strength and prevent atrophy in patients with muscle injuries.
